PROFESSIONAL TRUCK DRIVER
TRAINING
This AIT trucking school program
provides an in-depth background
to the trucking industry and a
thorough introduction to
long-haul driving, including
mastery of skills to
successfully deal with life on
the road, family relationships
and the financial
responsibilities that stem from
being away from home. The
professional truck driver
program is structured with
sufficient driving time to
enable trainees to develop the
truck driving skills necessary
for progression into the
externship portion of the
training. Externship provides
the trainee with the opportunity
to experience and gain knowledge
and proficiency from real-world
driving situations that cannot
be simulated such as; interstate
and international transit, weigh
station procedures, trip
planning and various cargo
handling and reporting skills.
The knowledge and professional
driver training skills obtained
enable graduates the opportunity
to advance to positions beyond
the basic duties of driving a
truck. Successful completion of
the program initially qualifies
graduates for a wide range of
jobs, up to and including, a
non-supervised solo driving
position.
The Professional Truck Driver
Institute (PTDI) certifies the
Professional Truck Driver
program at the main campus in
Phoenix. PTDI is a national,
non-profit organization
sponsored by the nation’s
trucking industry to improve
truck driver training.
